Beautiful Beaches and Kind People - Dominican Republic (1)

In September 2019, I took my first trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. While there, I was able to visit several all-inclusive resorts and would like to share my experiences.

I began this journey by flying non-stop on Southwest Airlines from Chicago Midway airport to Punta Cana. It was an easy 4 hour 35 minute flight. The scenery over the Caribbean was stunning - there is something mesmerizing about the numerous islands which "pop" against the crystal blue water. I had pre-arranged my transfer and within 45 minutes of landing, I was in the vehicle on my way to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which is roughly a 40 minute ride. 

FIrst impressions of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino? It is HUGE and energetic!! The main lobby was very busy when I first arrived, but I had my room key within about 15 minutes. My room was a Caribbean Sand Suite with a view of the garden. All rooms and suites at this property include a double hydro spa tub in addition to a balcony or patio with furniture. My room is pictured below. Restaurants were plentiful and varied. Everything from Italian, Latin American, Teppanyaki, Ipanema Brazilian Steakhouse and the Market buffet. **NOTE that due to effects of COVID-19, some of these restaurants are temporarily closed. My highlights were enjoying a very flavorful steak at Toro Steakhouse (the desserts were also INCREDIBLE!) and was entertained by the chef and those who shared the table at Teppanyaki. Pools and beaches are plentiful, as are the activities for all, including Kids Clubs and Nightly entertainment. As this resort is truly huge, you can rest assured that golf cart transportation is readily available to zip guests around the resort. A highlight for me was a Hot Stone Massage in the Rock Spa. The hydrotherapy experience (which even includes a cutting-edge ice room) was relaxing and since I was a spa newbie, the staff members provided guidance to have the best experience.
